Duo Vorgi\u0107\u2013Sovti\u0107<\/strong> is a Serbian chamber ensemble formed by soprano <\/span>Radoslava Vorgi\u0107<\/strong> and pianist <\/span>Nevena Sovti\u0107<\/strong>, both lecturers at the <\/span>Academy of Arts in Novi Sad<\/strong>. United by their shared passion for art song and deep musical sensitivity, the duo began their collaboration in <\/span>2021<\/strong>, and quickly established themselves as an expressive and artistically focused partnership.<\/span>
<\/a><\/p>\n

With a commitment to both traditional and contemporary vocal-piano repertoire, Duo Vorgi\u0107\u2013Sovti\u0107 has distinguished itself through thoughtful programming and dedicated work in performance, education, and research. Their shared vision centers on promoting the art song tradition in Serbia and the wider region, while also contributing to the global appreciation of Serbian and East European vocal music.<\/p>\n

In October 2022<\/strong>, the duo led a masterclass for young singers and pianists<\/strong> in Novi Sad, continuing their mission to nurture the next generation of musicians. Throughout 2023<\/strong>, they gave a number of notable performances, including the premiere of works by Serbian composers<\/strong> and themed recitals that explore poetic and dramatic dimensions of the art song. They were semifinalists at the Lied competition Bolko von Hochberg<\/strong> in G\u00f6rlitz, Germany, gaining international recognition for their interpretation and ensemble unity.<\/p>\n

In addition to their concert work, the duo has realized several significant artistic projects. These include two CD recordings<\/strong>: one featuring the complete songs of composer Sa\u0161a Kova\u010devi\u0107<\/strong>, commissioned by the Academy of Arts, and another dedicated to the songs of Rudolf Brucci<\/strong>, a key figure in Serbian modernism. They also organized a masterclass with composer Aleksandra Vrebalov<\/strong> on the theme \u201cSerbian Female Poets and Art Song,\u201d<\/em> bridging contemporary composition with literary and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Their recent recital programs reflect a unique and creative approach to programming. Themed performances such as \u201cWho is Ophelia?\u201d<\/em> (presented at A Fest, Academy of Arts), \u201cShakespeare in Song,\u201d<\/em> \u201cHumoristic Song,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cFairy Tales in Song\u201d<\/em> explore the interplay of music, poetry, and narrative. Another collaborative project, \u201cMessiaen and His Pupils,\u201d<\/em> featured flutist Petar Popovi\u0107<\/strong>, highlighting the legacy of Olivie Messiaen in Serbian Art Song. \u00a0<\/p>\n

At the end of 2023<\/strong>, Duo Vorgi\u0107\u2013Sovti\u0107 took a significant step by founding ArtSong Novi Sad<\/strong>, the first Serbian association dedicated solely to promoting art song<\/strong>. The organization aims to build a platform for art song performance, education, and research, fostering a sustainable and vibrant song culture in Serbia and the region.<\/p>\n

With their deep artistic commitment, versatile programming, and work in education and outreach, Duo Vorgi\u0107\u2013Sovti\u0107 continues to expand the horizons of art song in Southeast Europe and beyond. Their goal remains clear: to bring the richness of the song repertoire to new audiences, support contemporary creators, and inspire a broader appreciation for this intimate and profound musical form.<\/p>\n
